San Juan, Puerto Rico – May 8, 2014 - Just a download away… that’s how far are consumers to supporting social responsibility efforts these days. Welch’s, the leader of the grape beverage category with a long-standing tradition in the Island, has partnered with Mojo Tags, to launch the first local mobile social responsibility campaign using the recently launched application for smartphones, both in Apple or Android format. The “Sé Bueno de corazón con Welch’s” campaign allows consumers to interact and access customizable content about the campaign scanning specially printed POP materials in 40 Supermarkets Island wide or UPC Codes of 46 and 64 oz. bottles of Welch’s 100% Welch’s Concord grape juice elsewhere, going one step further than QR codes.
Besides allowing consumers to make individual donations via the Friends of the Cardiovascular Center Foundation, Welch’s is securing a $10,000 donation to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Cardiovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, the only institution performing these type of operations locally. This is the second time, Welch’s supports the needs of pediatric patients with cardiovascular disease, a natural partnership with the Cardiovascular Center given the heart-healthy attributes associated to the consumption of 100% Concord grape juice.
But, what makes this social responsibility effort unique is the usage of Mojo Tags mobile app, a technology only 60 days young, in conjunction with Welch’s social platform, selected visits to the trade and public relations support, as the sole means of promotion including the possibility of making their donations directly from the application of their phones via PayPal or sebuenodecorazon.com. “Everyday companies are having to do more with less. And every day, consumers are heavily relying on their mobile devices for much more than phone access. Mojo Tags is allowing us to reach consumers in an innovative and efficient manner, with a device that is already right at their fingertips, and provide them with information and the means to act upon their social responsibility with ease, turning desire and intention into actions,” said José Rodríguez-Osorio, Country Manager for Welch’s Puerto Rico.
Managed by Mojo Data Solutions, Mojo Tags is the world’s most advanced, multimedia scanning application that recognizes iBeacons, image and audio invisible tags imbedded in product packaging, advertising, print, audio, TV ads, and locations, which can connect consumers with brands, campaigns and other multimedia sources. The company is led by Joseph Spiteri, CEO and Chairman, a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of experience in software engineering, research and innovation with an emphasis on emerging technologies.
“We are just scratching the surface with the potential behind our unique technology in Mojo Tags. Mojo’s multi-media reader can connect consumers to specific ‘brand’ related content through interactive audio or print. The content can be anything from special offers, couponing, and loyalty programs. The possibilities are endless. This partnership with Welch’s combines two powerful tools that can provide a positive impact beyond consumer marketing, technology and social media. We are looking forward to exciting projects taking advantage of local, out of the box creativity and the benefits associated with our proprietary technological tools,” said Spiteri.
“We value this partnership with Mojo Data Solutions, not only because of their support to such a worthy cause but because it allows us to be the first beverage to use this ground breaking technology reaching consumers in innovative and meaningful ways, while being early adopters ourselves,” concluded Rodríguez-Osorio.
